Question

I know this question has probably been asked before but I'll ask it again because I can't find any info on it. I just bought the plextor 4220 internal cd-r burner. I know I have to buy a scsi box. Where would I find one? I have no idea what one looks like. Also I need to get a scsi cable what about that to. I know that the vs 880 ex has to be on a certin os system. Mine shows 2.00. How do I figure out with version I have 2.004? and Which os do I need to run the plextor 4220 internal cd-r? I am a newbie and was wondering if anyone could help me out. The cd-r should be arrving in a few days.
Thanks
Graham

You should be able to pick up a scsi case at any computer shop. egghead.com usually have them at a decent price. ebay is another place to watch for them. Cables as well. Your 880 has a 25-pin scsi port so try to keep all the ports 25-pin. It's not absolutely necessary, but it keeps things simple.

The latest o/s for the ex is 2.012. I've found it quite stable on mine and it has the DC Cut switch. If your o/s is pre-2.011 the low-end on your digi outs is slightly, but noticably compromized. Roland admitted a design flaw where they implemented a non-switchable DC cut on the digi-outs. This was to compensate for a "noise" that could be heard in the low-end while adjusting the mid Q on each channel strip while in the 3-band eq mode.

...or so i've been told!

Cool

To determine what OS you have - hold down both the status button and the Ch/edit button for track one and then at the same time turn on the 880 - The OS version will display on the screen. For the 880EX you need at least OS2.005 to use the CDRII.
