Help Mixing my DEEP VOICE

Alright guys,

My Equipment - KSM27 Mic, and the Tubepre.

I record in a small room with some foam around, but honestly, I am not happy with the quality at all...Especially when i hear the KSM27 is great for vocals. I'm going to upgrade the Preamp when i have the money. and i use a program called PATCHMIX ( came with TUBEPRE )...and i've been playing around with it for months now, and it seems i can't get anything down...Does anyone understand Patchmix?

Can a preamp not bring out the full power in a microphone???

What do you suggest i do, and how do you think i can mix the vocals properly.

Thanks in advance!!!!

myspace.com/punchesandilly...You can hear a sample of our music hear to understand the quality, you can listen to the top track on the page.

a) Don't mumble; deliver with conviction, deliberate confidence
b) No lyric / cheat sheets. Have it down cold
c) Make sure the mic is an optimal distance away at the proper angle, etc.
d) Don't clip anything! Use the proper connections at the proper impedences, etc. and track at high enough resolution in to a quality sound cared.
e) Use quality compression ... learn/ understand it.

If you can't handle these steps, then my best advice would be to give up, as you're probably not "cut out" for the engineering thing. Which is okay ... most of us aren't. Focus on performing instead.

I'd say get out of the small room and get rid of the foam.
