Well I have finally decided to go spend the money to increase my studio, and I want to get into digital recoding. However I don't want to go the computer-based route, so I am therefore considering buying an XT20 and a studio 32, with plans to buy an LX later down the line. What I am worried about is whether or not ADAT's are going to go extinct in the foreseable future. Does anyone have any suggestions about what route to take here? budget is about 2500, and I would like 16 tracks or at least the ability to expand later. Thanks!

Do you have any idea how many ADATs are in use right now?

Over 100,000 users worldwide............ They aren't going to be extinct anytime soon....

Besides, even if they were, it doesn't mean you can't still use them! The technology (not to mention the sound) is very solid. And they are expandable (up to 16 units for a total of 128 tracks)
