boss sp -202 tips

I have just started making beats a few months ago i'm doing fine learning my equipment. though I have not been using my sampler much i'm not real sure if i should have it hooked up to my sequencer through midi (which I'm still trying to figure out). here is what I use


alesis qs6.1
roland tr-505 rythem composer (a dinosaur but
works for now)
boss br-8 digital 8 track
roland sp 202

Basically I need help on how to use the sampler to its full potential
