M-Audio BX8a

I listened to a few sets of monitors this week, all pretty cheap. My favorites were the M-Audio BX8a (out of the ones I heard, incl rockit, alesis, yamaha, and others with a 300-400 model). Just curious about the consensus here about them before I take the plunge. Oh, and they're for my small basement still-under-construction studio, and currently I mix through headphones.

I have the original, pre "a" ones. They work for me. I even cart them from place to place, and can diddle with them to get an acceptable noise anywhere worth recording at so far.

Along with our NS10s, K-Roks, and big ol' Urei's, I have a set of BX8s. Surprisingly I dig them a lot. I use those and the Yamahas to mix and the KRKs to track. The have pretty good low end response but are a bit bright up top.
