Should I get new pickups?

I'm kind of disappointed with the sound that I'm getting out of my PRS Custom 22 vs my Gibson Les Paul. I really like the clean sound I get from the PRS but it just really lacks what the Gibson has as far as distortion.

Is there a pickup or set of pickups that I could pop into the PRS that would give me the type of distortion the Gibson LP gets (498R and 500T, I think) and still maintain the chimey type of clean that I get with the PRS?

Check out the Seymour Duncan 59's...Can't imagine why you'd wanna swap out pickups in a PRS Custom though...

The stock pickups leave something to be desired for me.

pickup hight

i like my pickups pretty close to the strings ...... fret all the strings at your 24th fret then look at how close your pickups are to the strings ... i like them around 1/8 inch on the thin strings and a little farther away on the thicker strings ..... it is a simple adjustment so play w/ it to you find where it sounds good to you ..... if you get them too close you can get some magnitec pull on the strings that may affect your sustain ..... experement w/ it before you buy new pickups ..... you might be suprised at the difference it can make ............... hope this helps

Thumbs up

Stay PRS and drop a Tremonti in the bridge postition. That should give you the balls you seek...

I've already thought about doing the Tremo pickups.
