Hot dog! Prodject

I just could not refuse this one 33.00 including shipping
Besides I have a 22-2 that could use a capstan motor and a 22-4 with a weak channel Plus I needed something to do.
Heck the reel tables are worth 50 bucks if i cant get it working.
Hopefully its just a belt and I already have that.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tascam-22-4-4Ch-...QQcmdZViewItem

And shit I still cant spell Project

You can spell hot dog though and that’s what’s important, especially during baseball season.

Arrow Avforsale...

are the ones who damaged my 34B 'cause they shipped it unsupported in an oversized Sony flight case. I'd not buy from them again.

Well its got to go alot better than the last deal I made on ebay.
I bought a vox jag organ and the guy would not ship or communicate with me so after a month I got my money back from paypal. I was a little woried for a while but it worked out ok in the end.
Of coarse he gave me a big fat negative on feedback and called me a liar and a jerk. He just shit in his own mess kit cause he wouldnt communicate with them either. So the money came back to me.
I knew there was something wrong when I asked about shipping and he said (I think)it was shipped another way other than usps. I asked, you mean something that big and heavy and you dont know how it was shipped?
I waited 2 weeks from the time he said it would ship till I started asking questions, But there was never an answer.
I even tried to give him a way out on the deal and told him I would give him the benefit of the doubt and let him keep the 75.00 he was charging for shipping. If he would just give me my money back without dealing with paypal but he wouldnt communicate at all. So I dropped it in paypals lap and they took care of it for me.

Hey Gary,

Be sure to file a complaint with eBay too. It's worth going through the process because you can get that neg taken off by eBay. It also puts a strike against him as a "non shipping seller" which is helpful to next person that has to deal with him.

Arrow My worst Ebay deal was...

a nice Technics RS-955 (high end) 80's cassette deck I paid $89 via USPS Money Order on, but the money and the seller vanished. A couple months later I saw his feedback was full of "took my money and never sent goods/disappeared" -type feedback. Apparently, he jacked me and about a dozen other people within a very short amount of time, (all on different items, but the results were the same). I sometimes thought the seller took an unscheduled vacation to prison at the time he disappeared on me and e'one else. I did a prison population name search & his name was a hit, however that's not conclusive evidence.

I was out $89, though, with no item, no seller and apparently no recourse.

The warm ending to this story is that I've since scored 3 of the same cassette decks, in fine condition and each for less money. That first $89 was some overhead I'd not planned on, though, in pursuit of this particular deck. I consider the RS=955 one of the very best Technics cassette decks in features and hifi. I've sought out Technics and Teac cassette decks that featured dbx NR, which gives 100db S/N without breaking a sweat.

Arrow My best-of-worst Ebay deals was...

An M520 I purchased from a seller in Phoenix, AZ, which amost didn't arrive. There was minimal contact or response from the seller & minimal promises or details on shipping, but it did arrive many weeks later, (like 6, 8 or more weeks later), by truck shipment. Upon arrival, it was obvious the board wasn't in working order. All the jumper plugs had been removed and the power cable was missing. No side panels, but that was disclosed in the listing. The whole deal pretty much sucked at that point.

I called Visa with a claim that the item was substantially not as listed, and was therefore a fraud. They tried to contact the seller with no reply, so they refunded my entire $790 amount, and I was very much relieved! I got to keep the board & PS unit as a project box, too! I walked away from that one smiling!

Then again, I later scored another 2 M520's for substantially less than the first deal, so all is well. (Local pickups, though).

I beg off bidding on larger items if there is shipping involved. Local pickup is the way to go, if you can find it.

My worst so far was winning a TASCAM 22-2 a couple years ago.

I gave the seller general and detailed instructions on how the unit must be packaged.

I asked him to take the feet off the bottom and put them in a plastic sandwich bag or something, because they often break in shipping.

I specifically asked that the unit be shipped on its back with several inches of padding below it and on all sides. He was also told to stamp or write "THIS SIDE UP" and FRAGILE on the top of the box.

Eh... so here's what I got. A thin, loose box with a little Styrofoam on the sides, but the machine bounced and slid from one side of the box to the other.

And here’s the worst:

HE PLACED THE FRONT OF THE UNIT FACE DOWN INSTEAD OF UP LIKE I HAD ASKED. IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH HE FAILED TO PLACE ANY PADDING ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX, SO THE Sensitive HEADS, ARMS, ROLLERS, KNOBS AND REEL TABLES WERE ALL EXPROSED TO IMPACT.

I turned the box over and noticed two holes had punched through the bottom of the box. Opening the box and pulling out the machine, at once I saw the TEAC faceplate was cracked, the tension arms were bent, and the reel retainers sticking out of the reel tables were both bent over like nails. The lower right knob was also pushed back into the frame and there was a crack in the plastic where it tore away.

Mad? In 2 seconds I was on Mapquest.com planning my surprise trip to his house... wondering if I would do him close with a knife or shoot him from 200 yds as he went out for the morning paper.

But I counted to 10 (3 times) made some hot bitter dark chocolate cocoa, lit some candles, put on Yanni "Dare to Dream" and gave him a call. He felt bad (stupid people can feel bad I found out). He ended up refunding most of the cost. I wanted to keep what was left for parts, so I ended up being out about $20.00 including shipping. The parts that survived are all great, including the heads.

eBay is defiantly dumbing down at a frightening pace.

I don't think the problem is with the UPS drivers so much. They seem nice enough.

Got the recorder today Fast ship and packing was well I would say not to bad. Atleast it made it in one piece.
First thing I noticed out of the box is it looks like there once had been a sticky pinch roller on it at one time cause of the black crap on alot of the machine. Thats ok it will clean.
Took it up stairs to my office and plugged it in and all lights work reel motors and capstan motor turns, All good signs. I put a test tape I kinda made with one of my other 22-4,s and hit the play button All meters come up to 0 right where I recorded the test tone and then some drum parts all sounds good through the headphones. Now i test the rewind and it works great but now for the first problem the brakes seem to be a little harsh and crinkle the tape on stop. I noticed when I put the reel on the machine it was a pretty hard pull to take the tape over to the next reel to load so there is something hanging up or the brake maybe stuck on.
Also hit record over some material and it erased that.
Thats all for now later I am going to put signal through it and make sure all the inputs and outputs pass audio before I start cleaning and getting inside.
But for now things are looking pretty good for 32.00
Late

And dang it Tim I wish you would quit posting pics of my old girl friend.

Update
Hooked up mixer all channels record and playback. Good sign
Took the machine apart and adjusted left break by feel. Hope that works
Seems like the belt is a little loose so I think I will just replace it with a new one, No sense in having to take it apart again later.
Anyway lots to clean inside and out and the little women told me its time to transfere it to the basement and get it off of her white carpet
They just dont have a sense of humor about these kind of things

I cut my teeth on a Tascam 22-4. It was/is my dad's. He still has it but the 15 ips speed quit working some time ago. We're not sure what it would take to fix and he doesn't seem to be all that keen to do it, especially since I just got him started on a DAW setup. Just out of curiosity, though, does that problem sound familiar to anybody? I have no idea how much life the heads have so I don't know if it's even worth fixing.

Im not to sure about the 15 ips thing. I am on my 5th 22-4 and never had a problem like that. Out of the 4 used ones I have bought none of them have had problems that where major. Mostly the problem stem from lack of use or someone not willing to put the time or little money it takes to fix them.
It is I guess my favorite machine. I like them cause they are small and light, sound great, And the headphone output on the front is real nice.
The only feature they should have put on it is a jack for a punch in jack on the back for a foot pedal.
They are kinda like women you just need to play with them alittle to get them going
