Did you find one?
an ebay store lighthouse sound had one. and I mean 1qty...in original box. Sunburst. Brand new..discontinued as you know. interesting piece. you got me looking into the 51's. I like it. seems there's more in the UK than the US. I saw a couple around for $145 range. Very, very few if any on Ebay. Now going for a $100-150. (at $69 we now know was the closeout prices in the final days. ) Overstock.com still pops up with the $89 page- I got pumped and almost bought one!!... but it said OBSOLETE PART listed!!Dec 2006.. ![]() the Squier 51 is a really cool guitar, I really really like the design. Its possibly the sweetest design Squier did. Why they stopped? the 51's are almost like a Epi Valve Jr. "cult" thing going on with these 51's...modder's forums and stuff. I imagine all the Fender stuff fits them to a point. Fender Squier 51... Something new and Different. here's some Wiki and pics... The '51 combines aspects of several of Fender's best-known instruments. The body and neck pickup resemble that of the Fender Stratocaster, while the single-ply pickguard and the control plate is borrowed from the original incarnation of the Fender Precision Bass. Finally, the neck and headstock design is reminiscent of a Fender Telecaster.[citation needed] The '51 uses a humbucker in the bridge position and a Stratocaster-style alnico single-coil pickup in the neck position. The bridge of the '51 is slightly narrower than most US-made Fender guitars in order to line up better with the polepieces of the humbucker, which are respectively designed for the narrower string spacing of Gibson-style guitars. The bridge pickup has a coil tap, set in the volume control, to switch between single-coil and humbucker configuration. The second control, which normally would operate as a tone control on a Telecaster or early Precision Bass, is a three-position pickup selector switch for choosing between the neck alone, combined neck/humbucker, or humbucker alone. It has a six-saddle hardtail top-loading bridge.[citation needed] good luck finding one of these! it ain't that easy.

these intrigued me when the price dropped, the concept of a gibsonish feeling fender appealed. especially for less than a benjamin.
but i played a few and couldn't get past the "dead" feeling of the guitar. it just didn't have any life to it. the frets were sharp and hanging over the edge (expected on a $70 guitar) and the neck just felt....well.....not good. intonation and neck angles seemed wonky..... i guess that should all be expected for less than $100.....but they all made this a non-playable guitar to me. maybe if i had the time to devote to rebuilding it..... ![]() that said, i find the squier modified vintage jazz bass for $279 to be surprisingly good.... cheers, wade |

i disagree in a way.... its a designed item/product...so it shouldn't feel wonky.
i often use the term clunker.hehehea but anyway, its a cool story 51. the concept is refreshing from all the LP and Strat and Tele routine. the discontiniued makes adds shitzbah! too. imo. MSRP was $298, street was $150. So if it's "wonky"..well..er.....yeah, $70 no big deal...you can make some money. the feel of the G, is #1 imo. do you want to sell your 51??? $70? ..er...if KidVybes don't want it. it ain't my thread.

...I have found a great one (still looking for another) with a beautiful neck and very clean frets...a little setup/intonation and new strings and this badboy screams...the problem now is you can't buy one in a store (where you can look it over before purchasing) so it's kind of a gamble, but they're not hard to resell, so the quest continues...
