Will the Atares ATR-1a do the same thing as the Atares Autotune plugin?

Basically, I got the plugin to work perfect for that Akon/T-Pain rap vocal effect. Problem is, my trial runs out in 3 days and I need it to last for a while.

I don't think its worth $300 just for that little effect, but I need it. Thats a problem. Are there any other cheaper routes I can go about to get the same sound? I'm mixing in Logic Express on a iMac.

Format the machine, reload OS X and all the software, and restart the trial

there's a plugin called GSnap that you can try, but i dunno if it works for Mac.

Yeah I have heard of that, but it is only for Windows.

I would really like to know if that hardware box of the Atares Auto Tune would work the same as the plugin version.

actually... funny story.. I downloaded a trial version of adobe audition 2.0 (which i don't use super lots because of my age old computer) a while back.. and it's still working.. the 30 days is well past due and nothing happened.. never seen that before oh well i'm not going to complain... i got from adobe's site and everything
