Can we have crits?

Hey, I have been coming to these boards a while.

my band just recorded a little simple home demo.. with a m-audio delta 66.. adobe audition, a art tube project series mic pre for vocals, and a mxl 990. guitars recorded with a marshall avt amp and a mesa dual rec with a shure sm57. drums were pearl exports tracked with 4 mics.. going into 2 stereo channels on a little yamaha mixer.

I'm not so much looking for crits on the recording. I know its not that good.. and not really worried about it, because we have access to a real studio when we are tight enough.. just don't feel like wasting anyone's time trying to do it just yet.

feel free to crit that part too though since this is a recording forum.

don't really need crits on the "style" because I know not everyone will be into this..

however.. what I am really looking for is crits on the vocals.. does the 2nd singer's voice fit with the first? is he on key? what can we do to make it better?

since we recorded this, we have gotten an actual drummer (guitarist played drums on this.. so its not perfect). New drummer is very technical and I would say on the same level as the drummer from any major rock act. He's good.

blast it away.. don't hold back.

"The Octagon" is the song i would like you to listen to..

I don't think the 2 vocalists serve the song well. Both seem to be off and especially the 2nd. Maybe a couple of more takes will help you nail it.

The slower part (about 2:45 or so) sounded much better singing wise.

I like the vocals for the most part, they both seem to fit some parts of the song, but other times they seem to clash a little. I like the heavier parts for this reason, that's when they seem to fit. I like a little bit of screaming every now and then...

Software like Melodyne can fix the vocals, which are off on many notes, especially when sliding up. A good portion of the main vocal is a semitone or less off, which makes the backing vocal inconsequential.

Re-record the vocals with attention to pitch.
