Melodic blackmetal.

For 2 days I couldn't get a decent riff, to a playground for ezdrummer I recently got.

Well, considering I only got the pop/rock kit The riff I got this morning got a little fast....

I like almost everything - just not the fast drum bits as they distract from the riff rather than support it.

Thanks!!

That blastbeat thingie is a classic, hard to work without it. True, especially when done poorly, it messes things up more than gives punch.

Maybe another mix, with other drums.

Does it need a solo?..

I know the drums are genre defined - it must be really hard to program them in, let alone paly 'em live.
There's a bit of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath to the sound & feel.
The guitars are def. not generic & that was the first thing that attracted my attention.
Solo - yeah but it'd have to be classic - something like the solo on Don't Fear The Reaper - kind of across the beat and iconic.
It's a really good piece save for, well you know...

I like it. I like the transition from the blast beat to the simple one. The drums do seem to jump out too much though. I like the guitar tone. What did you use to record them?

Gaawwwwdddd....

I played a couple of solos to it, and started mixing in Reaper, downscaling the blast a bit.
Fuck.
My laptop froze when doing drums, no matter what they say, EZdrummer hogs a fuckload of memory!!!...
Decided to leave it as it is. Time to move on.

JEEZZZZ!!!!!... I need a more powerful laptop!!
(700Mhz processor prolly some 512K memory at the moment)

Oh, all my guitars are DI:d through Tonelab. cleans and dirty mixed here...

Thread buried. Thanks for the insights!
