Boss DR-3 I am a beginner in the worst way

Hi , I would love some "input" on wether or not I am hopelessly incapable of learning how to manipulate the buttons on this lovely piece of equiptment. I simply would like to record the beats that i make up in my head, of course while tapping the proper key pads. I've figured out that much. Now i want to record the beat/rythme and my acoustic guitar with vocals. I'm not even going to ask if that is possible to do all on this one machine, so i have my old fashion cassetter recorder standing by, it hasn't failed me yet, so please HELP A SISTER OUT!!!

If you know something about the dr-3 drum machine and it's recording abilities please tell me. Whatever you know about it will be helpful. I have the reciept i have the manual if that helps you any, but no i do not understand the manual. I need it simplified. Yes i am simple.

ok here comes some help

if the drum machine is anything like my old boss dr550 then you had to edit patterns call them something like pattern 1,2,3,4....etc
then you had to edit a song play list like 3 bars of pattern 1 2 bars of pattern 3 etc... you will have to forgive the basic description i have not edit on it for 4 years.
then you went to play song an hey presto entire song.
now how are you thinking of getting the drums on the tape recorder you cannot use a jack because the mic on the tape deck will not work ,so you will have to put some speakers on it to play the drum sounds you strum the guitar and sing the tape recorder will do the rest ! this will get the sound on the tape but will be piss poor quality.
option 2
small mixer drum machine on one channel mic guitar on channel 2 mic you on channel 3 out of the mixer into the tape deck.

hope this helps
