Tascam 488 monitor set up

Hello everyone

I am new to the home recording game and just purchased a tascam 488 off of e-bay. I purchased the manuel from tascam and after going through it I cant figure out how to set up the external monitors. I am looking at the behringer truth monitors but I am not sure if I should go with the powered or passive type. Where do I hook up the speakers / power amp to? I know this is a stupid question for most of you and I apoligize for asking but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and all the best!!!!

there should be stereo rca outs

i had a portastudio bad in the day and i just hooked it up to my stereo.

for powered monitors youd have adapter cables - rca to 1/4" or xlr

i use a monitor mixer - behringer minimon

it has various ins and outs for ease of hookup and is cheap
