Tascam US2400 and Pro Tools issues

Tascam US2400 and Pro Tools issues

I'm having all kinds of problems setting up my US2400 as a control surface for Pro Tools. I keep getting a pop up message saying it doesn't see the controller. The instructions tell me to set up the peripherals to HUI with the proper channel assignments and I'm doing all that. Where am I going wrong? Is there a separate midi setting that needs to be fixed in Pro Tools before I can go into HUI mode?
