Question Better choice for bass traps?

Hey all - I really need to treat my room. As far as bass traps go, I'm torn between these two:

http://www.atsacoustics.com/item--AT...8x4--1008.html

http://www.frontendaudio.com/GIK_244...nel_p/8064.htm

I'm not an expert at reading the absorption report, but in my limited understanding it seems the GIK wins. However, the ATS are cheaper.

So my question is, is it worth the price difference to go with the GIK over the ATS panels? I'm ready to make the purchase, so if anyone can share there expertise I'd really appreciate it.

I took a brief look at both.
They seem to be basically equivelant.
Without knowing how they are built I would imagine they (functionally speaking) would be identical.
Most absorbers of that nature are made of compressed fiberglass of about 3 lb/cuft density. unless one was made of a heavier density material (I cant tell) you might possibly get a higher low frequency absorbtion at the trade off of less high frequency absorbtion.

I honestly dont think you will notice a difference, just see if you can determine which one is built better, or has a feature you want ( flame retardant?).

Obviously I'm biased so take it for what it's worth....

The 244's will absolutely outperform the 4" ATS. Our panels are 4" thick absorbtion PLUS a 1.5" air gap built into the back of the panel. This will extend the low bass absorbtive properties and still have a nice clean mounted look.

Also, notice that our panels are designed to not overabsorb in the higer frequencies leaving 'room' for additional reflection treatments without killing the highs in the room too much.

Lastly, we offer as a free service to our potential customers, consulting to determine what products are actually best for your room and where they should be placed to give you the best benefit for your dollar spent.

Thanks for the feedback Bryan...biased as it may be

Your consulting service could really come in handy thanks to my odd-shaped room and limited knowledge of acoustics. I'll be in touch.
