Studio Floor

Hey folks,

I am currently converting a spare bedroom into a Mixing/Tracking room. Right now we have the carpet that came with the house. I was thinking about installing pergo laminate flooring and i figured if the room sounds too live even after i treat it, I can always throw a rug down. I know for tracking you want to have a semi live sounding room, but how will the pergo floors effect my mixing?, which is what i will mainly be using the room for.

if you are gonna treat the walls, then i'd rather have a reflective floor with the option of putting a rug or treating the ceiling later. but it's important to make sure you treat the walls if you have a hard floor. i guess it's important to treat the walls no matter what kind of floor you have, but yeah especially with a hard floor.

I'd agree but it also depends somewhat on the type of things you'll be recording in there. Certainly a hard floor livens things up and allows for thicker absorbtion on the ceiling in the form of a cloud, etc. to help reach deeper into the bottom end instead of just carpet going from may be a couple kHz up.
