Tascam 22-4 sync button

Hi, can anyone please tell me what the sync button does? I can overdub and do every thing seemingly without it ? thanks

Yes you can overdub with out it but there will be a delay in what you play back on the track you overdubed.
You need to punch in the sync switch when you overdub to keep everything in sync
