pro tools m powered plugins

Been around pro tools but I'm just now getting used to using it myself. Where's the best place to get plug ins such as sound replacer, beat detetivce and auto tune can I download plugins or do I have to buy them, plus I just got a new imac g5 dual processor with 2gb of memory. Am I gonna need something faster?

you can get demo versions on most of the product websites after that you'll have to buy (mostly). There is a vst to rtas converter which opensd up the whole world of VSTs to you (think fxpansion make it) Search for vst to rtas wrapper. You'd have to but the wrapper but then any free VSTs can be converted for pro tools use.

Not true, there are a healthy amount of VST's that won't "wrap" properly.

Ok so I can't download the ones with the osx, since I'm using osx, symbol and just use those in pro tools I don't have to convert them or anything and will they auto load in pro tools or do I need to add them to a plugin pro tools folder or something. Thanks again for all the help everyone.

All you do is download and read the "read me" file it will say what to do!
Normally all you do is drag the plug to library>application support>Digidesign>plug-ins
and all will be good!

on the jk front you have to download pluggo runtime (free) and the plug and the read me says the rest
