Guitar Effects!
Ok Guys, I really need your help here.
I'm a drummer who happen to play some guitar. I play guitar only on my recordings, so basically I don't need a gazillion $ effects pedal; just need some compression, tuner, noise red, chorus, delay, reverb and distortion. Here's the deal: In my country there's not much where I can chose; I've scouted two units, and I need all the feedback you can provide, before buying any of them. 1) Korg Toneworks AX5G and 2) Behringer V-Amp2 Anyone with experience with any of these units, I would really appreciate your input. Get me off the hook please ![]() Cheers!

I haven't laid hands on either of those units, but I have read several reviews about the V-Amp that say that its main downfall is that there is a delay when you switch patches. Like a 1/2 second of silence while it changes effects patches. that kind of makes it useless for live performances unless you only switch patches between songs. But as far as effect quality, some people like them even better than their POD cousins. But as a brand, Behringer gets very little respect in these parts of the internet. Their build quality and business ethics tend to make them villified amongst many musicians.
Korg is a good brand name in general, but again I haven't used that unit. Have you considered the Digitech RP series? They're relatively cheap, with passable effects and lots of options. They come in several different price ranges, with the older models now selling for as low as $50 or so. If you're looking for quick-and-dirty multi-effects units, the RPs may be right up your alley.

Thanks for your response
![]() I consulted with local guitarists, and they told me the same you're telling me, to check out Digitech's RP line. So I did. I've got my eyes now on a new RP150. It's not expensive and the presets are great (I downloaded the demo). I'm going to test drive it on saturday. Thanks again mate ![]() Cheers!

if you can get korg products, you might want to see if you can get a vox tonelab.

I went to the music store after work yesterday.
I tested and bought a Digitech RP150. Compared to the tone I got from the AX5G and the V amp2, this one kicked their butt big time. I was amazed at all the flexibility this unit has: USB port, PC patch editing, patch importing, mixer/amp output switch, stereo outs, amp modeling, cabinet modeling, and the list go on; what I'm most happy about is the price $117 new ![]() I plugged it today to my GX80 Crate amp, and it sounded better than I expected. Couldn't be happier! Thanks for your comments. Cheers!
