phantom power

the microphone i want to get only runs on phantom power, the problem is im not sure if my multi-track has phantom power. its a boss br-532 anyone know is this has it if not can anyone else recommend a decent large diaphram, omni microphone (has to be omni)

ok , i found out that my multitrack does not hav phantom power, so what type of mic do i need? i dont know that much about the tech side of things when it comes to mics although i know it still has to be omnidirectional.

You can use an omni dynamic like the EV 635a, or you can get an external phantom supply, or an external preamp with phantom power.

Way back when I first started getting into recording, I used one of those Yamaha 8-track Cassette units (15 years ago or so) which didn't have phantom power or XLR inputs for that matter. When I got my first "real" condensor mic I also got a Tube MP which let me have phantom power and go form XLR to TRS to the inputs on the Yamaha. Or you could step up to a slightly better preamp like a DMP3 which would also give you phantom power not to mention a really nice inexpensive pre.

rolls also makes a few phantom power units for under 50 bucks... you might take a look at those.

I think he should build a unit that requires 20 9-volt batteries. That's gonna wind up costin a bit more than just buying a phantom power unit

I am curious... For someone that does not know basic things about mic preamps, how is it you know that you NEED an omnidirectional mic?
