Snare wire type? Cable? What is this?

Hello. I was watching my usual drummerworld videos and I came across this one:

http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/g...sonfutile.html

I must say that I really like the sound of that snare drum he is playing. I don't know what brand/size it is though. Any takers?

My main question is this. At 1:33 in the video it shows the bottom of the snare. To me it looks like he is using cables. Am I right on this? Or is there a model with very few snare wires?

Many thanks if anyone knows!!!!

just looks like a snare with jst 10 wires or some small number like that. That kit sounds AMAZING.

Ha! I found out what he did. He had Puresound 16 strand wires and cut them down to 8.

Yes that kit does sound really good. That's what caught my ears. He is a fine drummer as well. I didn't even know who he was until last night.

Make sense actually, since it always seems to be the outer wires that buzz or rattle.

I love Gavin Harrison!

His work with Porcupine Tree is awesome.

In every one of PT's songs he manages to integrate unique playing.
