Recent owner of a Tascam TSR-8 reel to reel

I recently was given a tascam tsr-8 reel to reel that is in great shape. When I put a recorded reel that came with it, the sound would come and go out when it was playing, I think its called " wow and flutter. Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this problem and also any suggestions on where to get cleaning products for my unit.

The old tape that came with it is probably bad with sticky-shed syndrome.

And/or

The rubber pinch roller is gummy or hard and needs to be replaced.

And/or

The capstan drive belt is loose and needs to be replaced.

These are all very common causes of what you're experiencing.
