FireOne not bad!

I usually use RME interfaces. My wife caught her foot in my Multiface cable and it doesn't work. I teach a HS audio class and we use FF800 there. We are adding a DJ section to our class so I ordered a Tascam FireOne interface to go with a Vestax VCI-100 Controller and Tractor software. I brought the FireOne home to get to know it. It is temporarily replacing my Multiface. One thing that surprised me was the headroom. Driving the Mic inputs with a Blue Dragonfly and a AT3035 with acoustic guitar and vocals was very free of digital distortion. The levels could be pushed higher than I would have thought for a sub $300 interface. Then again, who started recording in the stone age with the PortaStudio. I think Tascam's recording experience is showing.
