im not a piano'ist nor do i claim to be but a friend of mine was killed in a car accident and I'm working on a song for him, I feel it needs a piano so I tried my best... I need advice on how i can make it better or seem more 'life-like'

I don't listen to this kind of music.

With that said, I don't like the little 'lazer' sounds in the left speaker. If you ilke them and decide to keep them, at least turn them down a little so they're not so upfront.

Also, it's hard to really form an opinion off 2 little 10 second clips! The piano doesn't give off the vibe that this was written for a friend, but then again, there are no vocals on it so that could change things.

Make it longer. And next time, upload the whole MP3.

thank you for taking the time to reply...

i should have been clearer on my purpose, i'm curious as to if the piano sounds 'real' or if it sounds like a 3 year old kid hitting buttons.. im not a piano player so i have no clue what a 'decent' piano should sound like being played.

oh yeah almost forgot-
the lazer zap is introduced to the front stage during the piano break to give the song more overall depth during the break, if i drop it the tone is plain and i'll have to substitute it with another sound, but as is its just for spice, it blends alot better with the rest of the song.

the piano sounds like a synth, check out these plugins:
mda piano
4front piano

you could also try the demo of true pianos (it sounds really nice) but it is time limited

"...sounds 'real' or if it sounds like a 3 year old kid hitting buttons."
Oh, you mean you want to know if it sounds competent or accidental!
Ah, that's a matter of relativity - I'd dump the mix and set everything up in mono then if it sounds more balanced and the laser gimmick is dropped almost completely I's pan everything hard centre except the piano synth - it's placement would then be hard right and as I listen i'd slowly pan it back toward centre until it sits "right", well not "right" but you know what I mean.
What I can hear of the part sounds like a synth. It sounds anonymous. The playing sounds anonymously like a self taught 3 year old plonking away on a piano after he got something caught in his fly. A bit of a zap in the zip there.
To be honest the edits are too small to get a sense of the piece, the scope & development of the piano part aren't apparent. The laser is very distracting and doesn't add depth - it adds gimmick Star Wars soundtrackness.
Simple piano lines work well if they are at least based on a sample that sounds real. There's gravitas to a good piano sound that will carry even rudimentary plonking.
