Audix D2 on Toms - Happy
Not that I have a frame of reference, but anyway...
I bought three of these and put them on my toms. I was immediately impressed by how little bleed there was from the rest of the set. Must be the hyper cardiod pattern at work. The sound seemed fine too. I need to play around with where to point them at the head and figure out how that affects the tone. I'm not sure I like the D-vice holders that came free with the mics; they seem to move around way too easy. Time will tell. |

Audix makes GREAT drum mics, thanks for joining me on the darkside. Please tell me you got th DP5 or DP5a. Not that the others arent good, but the 5 comes with everything you could want. Wise investment my friend, and welcome to the post SM57 world.

I got three Audix D2s, and plan on getting a D4 for the floor tom.

Phyl my man, You can get a DP5a kit on ebay NEW for under 500 bucks. one I5 which slays a SM57 in nearly every application, 2 d2's, a d4 for floor toms and bass cabs, and a D6 which is my go to kick mic, plus you get the mounts and a case. Sell the D2's and pick up the set.
