Exclamation Hey Funky....

Checked out your studio construction. Hope you keep us posted with updates as the construction progresses.

In answer to your question, check out what I did in my studio:

http://www.angelfire.com/al3/studio/Pages/Jones.htm

I built this "Flying Bridge" that fits on a corner desk unit. The bridge has 6 rack units on each side (12 total) and a place to put the computer and computer monitor. Then, above the rack units are shelves for the audio monitors to sit on. All of this makes for an extremely ergonomic setup where everything is literally at my fingertips!

I could have made a cut out in the top of the corner desk unit, and recessed the mixer into that, but I kind of like it on the desk top.
The desks I bought from a local Office Supply. Here's a link to that site:

They weren't cheap, but they did cost a LOT less than furniture made exclusively for studios, and I think it works better.

Unless you are an advanced carpenter or cabinet maker, I'd stay away from home-made desks. Home-made furniture, while functional, could give your studio a real "lashed together" look. (Not real professional, in my opinion)
