Help me recreate these sounds with filters?

I am desperately trying to understand the connection between filters and these sounds.

http://frostwave.com/soundfiles/resonantor/res_solo.mp3

I have a triton studio and I want to believe I can recreate these sounds. Please help! Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

Easy man...

First off there are only 2 filter "configurations" at play.

The first "raspy" one starts off with a sawtooth wave, put through a bandpass filter with high resonance setting put through some distortion. Play a lowish note an octave or two below middle C and go nuts with modulating the filter cutoff. Perhaps assign it to the Mod wheel and have at it.

The other "clean" one is actually a self oscillating filter. A lot of digital systems try to emulate this but it never really comes out sounding right. On digital synths you're better of just using a sine wave and perhaps distorting it somewhat and then modulating it's pitch.

Both should be easily doable on the Triton, and a million other synths out there.
