Just a sequencer?

I have an old Roland EG-101 that I want to use more for live shows. I really like alot of sounds I can get out of it, but it has no sequencer. I can get drums, bass, pads, and leads that I like, but I can't lay down the bassline live and then let that loop while I add in a synth lead. Are there any reasonably cheap sequencer/loopers (hardware only, I don't trust computers live) that could integrate with this system, maybe even MIDI link them so the tempo would be locked?

There are lots. Alesis MMT-8, Roland MC-50, Kawai Q-80 would be decent choices

Q80 is a nice one, try to get the EX version if you can. Beware the old adding machine-looking Roland MC500 series. Holy rocket science Batman - had one for a week. I got so frustrated with it's complexity I wanted to beat my dog... good thing I didn't have one then.
Also had a Brother PDC-30 or 40. As simple as they come and you can get them for $10 now but they had a problem with the playback tempo. It was never the correct tempo as it displayed. Made a great sysex dump unit though.

you could look at the akai mpc500. small, battery powered, 16 track sequencer, loop based, sampler, efx, and a all around production tool.

I use to use a Roland MC 500 (http://www.vintagesynth.com/index2.html).

That thing served me really well - pain in the ass to learn, but solid as hell . Easy enough to transfer songs to it from a DAW.

I may even still have the damn thing somewhere.....

Get a laptop, a copy of Noteworthy Composer, and a USB midi interface.

I have a laptop. EVERY time I have used it live, there has been some sort of driver issue or random crash. I'm not doing it anymore.

I second this suggestion. I have a Roland MC500 myself and it's awfully powerful and rock solid.

Oh god, tell me about it!! Anything that I sequence in Ableton Live, I go through many many times in rehearsal, making sure it won't crash. Go to stage.... "fuck it guys, I'm just going to play the piano parts on this one!" Granted I'm running multiple instances of NI's FM8, Absynth, and Pro53 with various MIDI controllers and running MIDI out to a Juno. But still, it seems to work fine during practice..
