12 String recording
If you remember this song, you were most likely hanging out in the basement or the backseat of your buddy's Ford Torino cranking up the Craig PowerPlay 8-track. You were also probably doing a lot of things you shouldn't have been even thinking about We decided to fire up the studio tonight and do a test recording with the Breedlove 12 string that my wife got me for Christmas. It was a little bit tougher recording the 12 string...I did XY miking and a direct line out of the guitar straight to the recorder. Hang in there because the vocals don't start until about a minute and 10 seconds in which gives you plenty of time to evaluate the guitar sound and reminisce about the good old days!

Never heard this song. 12 string guitar sounds good, has a very bright sound to it but also a nice low end.
Wasn't expecting female vocals, I like em. Sounds *kind of* like Stevie Nicks in some parts at least to me. A couple of 'small' pitch problems in some of the held notes. I think you have a good balance between the guitar and vocals but I'd still like to hear the guitar brought up a little more and maybe spread out or wider if you know what I mean. |

Thanks Danny. I split the mic's 2L and 2R with the direct line in straight up. I'll play a bit more with the stereo field.

Congrats on a great version of this song-'Get you're wings' has always been my favorite Aerosmith album as well. This basic stripped down version works very well with the song-12 string and the vocal are very good!

Quite trippy.
