Metal Mix (Condemn the Faithful)

This one's writen and played by a local metal band I've been recording over the last few weeks.

Drums:
Kit was a tama rockstar stage custom fusion size drums.
OH: Kel HM-1
snare: Shure sm-57
bass drum inside: Shure beta-52
bass drum beater: Shure sm-57
rack toms: mxl 603s
floor tom: Shure KSM 27
Guitars:
One side was a Guibsen Les Paul Studio and the other was a Gibson Les Paul Faded Special, they both were sent to a DBX 266xl compressor/gate, then to a Peavy Valveking 100w all-tube head into a 4x12 avatar cab with vintage 30s. The cab was miced with a 57 and a KSM 27 on separate cones. There are two tracks panned in various dirrections on each side and two overdub tracks of chords chugs and squeels.
Bass: Rickenbacker 4003 into a peavy bass head that I can't remember which one it is into a really old 2 15" with no label on it. One cone was miced with a beta 52 and we ran a DI from the head with speaker simulation.

For vocals we switched off between an sm 57 and a mxl 603s (more of the 57). We used m-audio octane pres for everything into a motu 828 mkII into logic 7. There is a snare trigger backing the snare track, and a bass drum trigger backing the bass drum track. All tracks were EQed to find their most dominating frequencies and then bussed to instrument busses where they were master EQed to make some space. There is also a parrallell compression bus for the snare and bass drum. Each close mic is gated, some with fairly high hold settings on them.

If you need anymore info just ask for specifics, The song is called condemn the faithful. Enjoy!

just started listening...... sounds good so far..... guitars sound good but could be brought up a bit....... vocals sound nice but could come up a little too. kick could go down slightly, but not too much..... it sounds nice too... good 'n' clicky..... but loud. snare could use a bit more pop. cymbals sound a bit bright overall, but that ride bell is downright ravishing.

I cannot lie. Those drums need work. I don't know if it's the tracking or if you killed them in the mix but they need their lows and mids back. All you have is the click. The toms aren't too bad but that kick and snare to be revisited.
