After month's of saving and waiting my time is coming.I'm going to get my first digital recorder. It's either an Akai Dps16 or a Roland Vs-1880.Which of the to would be easiest to use? If I get the Vs-1880 im going to get the effects.Which of the to would have the best effects? I want to hook up my guitar, which would be best for guitar. Can you mix down to two tracks on the dps16,someone told me you could'nt.Which of the to would fit these needs best.

Consider the Korg d16 or the just released Korg d16. Both are excellent values. Search for posts on this device.

what's up

I have a DPS16 that I chose over the 1880 for a couple of reasons.

First, I wanted something easy to use that had the best sounding converters possible. After A/Bing the roland and akai I decided the akai sounded better.

Second, I didn't want to spend any more money then I had to.

Third, I just liked the interface of the akai unit more then the roland. 16 faders, intuitive operationg system.

From the time I spent demo'ing the 1880 I came to the conclusion that, for me, it was not as good a choice as the akai. The only thing I liked more about the roland was the fact that the effects were better and there were more available. This doesn't matter to me now, though, because I use the four aux sends to feed my outboard effects, which I can promise are better then the roland's
