Looping with the MR-8 MkII
I am thinking of getting either a Foxtex MR-8 MkII, Zoom MRS-4B, or similar, if any of these machines' looping functions is good.
What I'd like to do is edit a bunch of stereo analog recordings of solo bass and stereo effects by taking the best segments (30 seconds to 3 minutes in length), and looping them via two tracks of a digital recorder. Then, I would add additional parts to that on remaining tracks. I prefer to avoid the hassles and costs of PC equipment (pro-tools, cakewalk, etc.) if possible. Would the Fostex MR-8 MkII give me seamless looping, or would there be a "glitch" or slight silence gap when repeating a designated segment? Or, if there is a different brand of hard-disk recorder on the market that works best for this looping function, whether 2, 4, or 8 tracks, I would appreciate knowing about it! Many thanks.
