Fostex R8 Reel to Reel Parts!

Does anyone know where I might be able to find parts for my Fostex R8 Reel to Reel recorder? I've tried Fostex themselves and they have very little,(if any at all) parts in stock for this machine. Don't they realize how many people still use these recorders? They are such wonderful tape machines. Can anyone send me links to any electronics shops that might have parts.. If so, I'd be most thankful... Arghhhhhh!!!

fostex has terrible costomer service.

your best bet is ebay and local classifieds, such as craigslist. You can really strike a deal for an r8. I got mine for about 300 and sold it again for about 300, but broken ones, incomplete ones or just listings with bad pictures and descriptions and stuff I have seen go for cheap.

Perhaps you can buy a generic part? What are you looking for? If its something like an electronic component or a belt than that would be easy to find. If you need new heads or something, then you might as well buy a new machine.

I remember once my r8's PLAY and FF function stopped working. I popped off the top and turned out one of the gears to broken. Super glue fixed that

Whats the machines issue?

R8 Issue

I know about the gear deal. That already happened to mine. I need one of the main belts. It's a flat belt, yellowish in color, about 1/8th of an inch wide and has teeth on it. Has the name BANDO on it. I've tried contacting them, no luck. I don't know the belt size. Your right, Fostex customer service blows. They say the belt is discontinued. Other than the belt issue and the gear falling off (I've fixed it already) the machine and the heads are near mint. When I bought it from a guy on ebay, super cool guy. Upon receiving it, the machine looked like someone had bought it new, opened the box, closed the box and sent it to me! It is near mint! I was very happy.
