I can't figure it out

I cannot figure out what I've done. I have magix music studio 10 deluxe. I have been trying to figure out how to record lyrics while playing back my music for several months. I finally figured it out, all I had to do was push the lil button that said playback while recording and it worked great. I was finally doing it. Then, the next day, when I actually had time to work on my music, it would no longer work properly. I didn't change anything in my music or my program that I am aware of. I know that my soundcard will do what I need it to do, because I was doing it. Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge as to what I may have done, or if there are any specific settings other than the playback/record buttons that might have something to do with my music recording into my new track box? Help me home recording dot com, you're my only hope.

Nothing is going to help you more than reading the manual for your soundcard and recording software.

With that said, usually it is as simple as creating and arming a track to record onto and then hitting the record button. As long as you don't have the mute button active on the other tracks that you've already recorded, you should be able to hear them while recording your new track.

I have read and re-read all the tutorials, the manuals, and everything else I can find as far as my soundcard and program are concerned. Like I said, I actually had it working, and then it didn't. I have even sent e-mails to magix, but I guess they are not that concerned with contacting me in return, or surely they would have by now. Guess I will keep trying, till I either figure it out, or it just happens to start working again.
