Goodbye, Roland-forum friends...

Well, I've traded my Roland VS-2000 in and exchanged it for M-Audio Projectmix I/O and Pro Tools 7.3.

My main reasons were, because Roland pissed me off by discontinuing the life cycle of the VS-2000 even though it still has some bugs, and also, could have probably still been upgraded with new features. I don't think the machine had seen it's full potential yet.

Also, the 3rd part plug-in's were a major draw for me when I first bought it, but then you find out that the VS8F-3 chip to do that costs $500, and the Plug-ins all cost $200 and up. And they have not brought a new plug-in out for 2 years.

Also, the VS-2000 often seemed limited. The menu's and workflow is clunky and not very modern feeling.


At any rate - I always felt the "Roland, Boss, VS Series" forum was my little hang-out on the homerecording site, but now I don't really need to come in here anymore.

How much didja get for it?

Me, my 2000CD has performed nearly flawlessly, only a couple of small hiccups. I am moving to supplement it with Logic Express after having to buy a seriously cool Intel iMac. So, if my 2000CD craps the bed, I'll still have Logic. If it craps the bed while I still have tracks on it, I can import those tracks into Reaper, and then into Logic.

Well, you have to keep in mind that I am in Canda.

Our money is valued differently, and overall music equipment is very overpriced compared to the US.

So....... I got $1200 CDN for it.

What I did, was trade it in at the same music store I bought it at.

I gave them the vs2000 and $675 cash.

They gave me a M-Audio Project mix, and M-Powered Pro Tools 7.3.

How many Canadian Piastres did you pay for it initially?

Well, it's complicated... but it goes something like this...

Bought a Boss BR-1600 for around $1500 (Loved it, should have stopped there)

Traded it in and added $1000 to get a Roland VS-2000

Traded that in and added $675 to get Pro Tools and Projectmix


So I am at least $3175 into it. (Doh !)

i did the same thing starzz...i loved my roland, In my opinion, i think its stupid if you want a "serious" all in one studio and would get something other then a vs series, but at the same time, the support and expandable options were crap on the rolands, an they always made gear, then stopped making it short therafter

P.S make sure you got a good return plicy on the project mix...Don't get me wrong...i love m- audios stuff (and got a lot of it) but i hear there interfaces brake a lot....
