OTARI 8 track advice.

It is an OTARI 5050 SD - separated electronics module and deck. I believe channel 5 is out and channel 4 has some noise in tape mode, not source, it is enough to deflect the meters- probably a transistor going bad in the output amplifier. I was smelling something when i first started it up after receiving it that was suggested as a bad cap- probably find it when i get this apart. In looking at this machine, it appears to be modular in the back (electronics stack). I would like to remove those two modules and take them to someone for service - I have the schematics in the owners/maintenance manual, but do not have a service manual. Does any one know where I can get one? Has any one taken one of these apart? Advise?

Do you still have the manual for the 8SD? I have been having a lot of trouble locating one. I just recently acquired one myself.
