Yo noddy/bk and the rest of you, help me out with this one.

I had some incredibly melodies goin through my head and I decided to throw them into a beat, but the problem is I can't figure out _what_ sounds good, and what needs to go where.

I'm not sure if I should just walk away from it and start something new, because it's an absolute disaster? or if I should continue on it, and make a hot one.

But, I'm going to post what I got so far, and see if you can give me some pointers because I'm lost for words on it, and I don't know what to do to it.

I'm lovin' the bass/snare/hat combo, but the instruments for everything else just _doesn't_ fit. I'm not sure why

The flute isn't working at all. Honestly I'm thinking you might want to make this into an upbeat synthy type beat. Here's my suggestions...

The drums aren't bad but I'd throw in some claps and a couple of sound effects here and there (that blend in with the beat)

Throw a deep bass melody on it to give it depth.
Change the flute to a hard, deep synth.
Add a couple of layers of pianos (like some light pitch and heavy pitch).
Add a string melody in this too.

A couple of melodies mixing together should help this get much better

Gotcha, I'll work on it and post the upgrade.

Thanks Fiev.

Me neither, but as for tonight I think I'm done trying, I tried to work on it. Honestly, just way too much stuff going on in it, I need to sit down and work some of the qurks out of it, I'll show you what I did to terrorize it.

http://shadow.crystalgnome.org/Re-Lapse-Whistle3.mp3

I know, I know, I ruined it! But, all my songs take time, and I always make progression marks, to see how shitty they were, to the final version. it'll be better I promise.

If not, I'll just make a hot beat to toss this one aside

--Re-Lapse (Oh, and I got the final version of my other beat done, http://shadow.crystalgnome.org/Re-Lapse-ILoveYou.mp3 I think it sounds great, the whistle adds a great tune to it. (It's not mastered to the way I'm going to record to it, but as I write, I'll figure out how the chorus / verse /hooks are gonna go.

Enjoy!

Yanno this actually sounds like a video game banger. Like some Splinter Cell or Manhunt type now.

The main thing that I think is this song now is too much bass and heavyness in the instruments and lack or presence.

*EQ that synth and take some of the bass out.

*There's a woodblock I hear in your beat that sounds off, I'd take it out.

*Throw a bass melody that will hit on subs (like I mentioned earlier).

*Now that I hear this one, I would say screw the light pitch keys, go heavy pitch pianos and EQ the bass out a little (but not too much)

*Go mid to light pitch with some strings.

Add some changeups with all of that and it's already getting much better.
Trust me, this beat has progressed good, but it still needs more work to make it bang harder. Don't lose confidence in it, it's not a throwaway.

Fiev.

EDIT: Also, as bad as I think a beat might be, I NEVER scrap it. As a matter of fact, I'm planning on going into many of my 200+ of beats and remixing them to make the old stuff as good if not better than the new. Oh and Noddy, BTW change that to Saturday night if you can do that. I got your PM

I've been getting that a lot, that I need to get my confidential state up. I need to believe / know, that I am good and I will be good. Thanks man, always good to hear from you. I'll work on the beat more today and see what I can come up with.

Some good advice, indeed. I will work on those things and see what I can do, I think today since I'll be in the mood and have my sub hooked up and make things easier to tune and EQ, that it'll probably take a turn for the better. I'll keep the same melodies, but I'm going to work on them to make them sound better, we'll see what I come up with.

As for tossing a beat? I wish I had known to never do that a long time ago, I have over 400 Beats recorded that I deleted the flp file for, because they were complete junk. (No joke on the 400 either) But, from now on, if I make something, I'll work on it, til it hits where it needs to be or higher.

Always good advice from you Fiev, keep it real.

Alright, now that I bumped it. I did a little editing to it, and I'm not sure what it needs now, probably a synth which is my worst aspect. So, I'm willing to throw up the beat for anyone that wants to take a hit at it.

http://shadow.crystalgnome.org/Re-Lapse-Whistle4.mp3 there is the final progression mark that I'm stuck at.

If you want to hop on and throw some spice in it, lemme know, otherwise, I'm not sure what else to do to it.
