boss1200 / tascam 2488mkII

which is an all around better unit for HOME recording. not for recording live sessions. studio recording only. I am torn between these two particular units.

I know this is a Korg camp, but who cares. Presently I have a 424mkIII tascam which is an awesome analog deck, but I am just tired of its limitations.

I am reading up on both decks and they are both price comparable.

any thoughts?

Don't bother with the 1200, just go straight to the BOSS BR1600CDR.

As I may have posted you before, the 1200 only lets you record on two tracks and I believe the Tascam unit will do 8 tracks at once. Depends on your needs but only two tracks to record is a bit limp.

Hey Clevo, I checked out a Tascam and for my needs the BR1600 was best. The Tascam I looked was 24 track (cant remember if same model as you mentioned). However, I needed good guitar modelling etc, a decent drum and bass machine and loop sample player. The Tascam had crappy guitar effects and lame drum sounds. If you are recording live drums or live performances you've got 8 simultaneous inputs on the BR1600. The BR1600 also has a better mastering section than the BR1200 and as mentioned by Green Hornet and Gorty the 1200 can only do max 2 simul inputs. If you're working alone then the loops, bass and drummachine; and guitar, bass and vocal processing in the Boss makes it a great stand alone unit. I hope my 2 cents worth helps Frambo out
