Unhappy Been trying to record for a while now, need some help

Hey there. this is my first post, ok ill get straihgt in to it.

Firstly ill start with waht i have:

-Behringer V-AMP2
-6string guitar( cheap guitar ) thinking aobut getting new one, but i think it will do the job.

-Behringer mic ( for vocals )
-Ezdrummer DFH. NOT SUPERIOR
-Cubase SX3

Fruityloops studio ( i use this for some effects and such, gets annoying tho, i run it as a vsti)

I havea few tracks written, im playing black metal btw, influiences form bands like

Darkthrhone
Elite
Arcturus
and such bands alike.

I need help with tones rythem and lead, shouild i have hte lead more trebbley, and the rythem more bassey? rythem panend left? or right? .lead panned left or right?

and also what can i use for a bass guitar? any good VSt's out there i can get my hands on ? hmm (there is one in cubase but it sucks balls

im getting really frustrated with guitars been to loud over the drums, or everything been nice and the hi hat or something to harsh?

would be cool if someone shared there nice Ezdrummer mixer presets settings

so i basiaclly need to get drums a nice sound, a warm sound and not to sharp or harsh snare/cymbols but a nice warm but still loud bass drum.
annnnd about the guitar presets what i mentioned up the top there.

Appreciated thanks alot .. help help

Welcome to the BBS.

Don't mean to sound harsh but my advice is to start at the newbie section.

Some basics that come to mind.....

Record a guitar track and pan it hard left.

Record the same track again (double it) and pan it about 75% left.

EQ them a little differently to help them gel together.

Maybe the Hard left track can be your solid lows and some mids with the highs taken down.

Then the 2nd guitar at 75% can have the lows taken down and have some mids and highs.

Do the same on the Right side panning if you have a second guitar or harmonized part. If not just play the same guitar part twice on the right side like you did on the left.

Leads up the middle.

You could record pretty Flat on lows mids and highs to make sure each element is present and EQ it to taste in Cubase later.

If you want to go with your regular EQ settings just make sure its not too bass heavy or to bright in the highs and that your mids are present and not all the way scooped.

As far as drums, Im not sure how your program works but I have DFH Superior and you have to make sure the velocity settings on cymbols especially high hat are at random levels.

If they are all the same such as on blast beats, they will sound very shrill and unreal when its all full velocity.
