Calling Southsideglen

I posted in here a good while back wondering the best way to record a saxaphone & a blues harmonica for a track called "The Taste Of Defeat"

now I remember Glen helping me out a lot alongwith a few others who's usernames escape me anyhow, the track is mastered & now as part of Sutherland & Son's album Blues D'ecosse

to hear The Taste Of Defeat go to www.myspace.com/sutherlandandson

cheery bye gang

Hey Slidey,

Sounds pretty good. The vocals are nice and thick and clean, and the harp doesn't sound bad either. What'd you wind up doing with the harp? I seem to remember you ran a few different mics and you'd mix as needed or something like that. How did you wind up doing it?

That band has quite the friends list...Larry Carlton and Garth Hudson? Are they true acquaintences?

BTW, you can usually fine me with the SouthSIDE Bat Signal (see below):

BWAHA

thanks for the kind words glen

the harmonica was a mix of straight bullet+ bullet thru treble & bass 50 valve head mic'd with beyer m201 as well as a solidtube LDC

I used the solid tube in the same way as the sax. At the side of the player pointing down at 45% about 2 feet away I also had the m201 about 10" from the bell of the sax

all mics were flat & only a small amount of comressorating across the m201 on the harmonica just to smooth out the distortion a touch

& my friend list, Garth Hudson & Larry Carlton are 2 of my biggest heroes & they happened to be 2 people I was curious about thinking "they'll never have a myspace" & wadda ya know

they even accepted my request for friendship

it's a good world
