track compression

this is usually the way i recored: when using bus recored, feeding however many channels im using into channel 16...

if i turned on the compression for channel 15 and 16 would that mean that all those channels going into channel 16 are compressed or is it just those two channels

i know you can select either 13 and 14 or 15 and 16 for compression

It might help to keep in mind the difference between a Track (recorded on the HD) and a Channel (the path which a signal takes through the mixer section).
In the case you mention the compression will be on whatever is plugged into inputs G & H, and they will be recorded with the compression (this assumes Buss Record Mode and Compression on 15/16).

If you have other inputs being recorded to Track 16 they will not have compression on them. What is confusing is this: what you have recorded to track 16 is played back through channel 16, and if the compression is 'ON' for channel 16 what you play back will sound compressed (but the compression is being added on playback - the sound was NOT recorded with compression).

I hope this helps - but reading it again - I doubt it!
