Given this many channels, what am I missing in a patchbay?

I have a 24 channel board, and 24 channels of adat. I'm in the midst of rewiring everything, and wondered if I had the typical patch bay layout. I have 3 24 channel patch bays, all 1/4 inch cheapies (Re-An) and an extra Behringer that I've never used. I usually set it up like this:
24 channels for the inserts. - one pb used
8 channels for the buss and 2 for the master buss.
10 channels for compressers in/outs. 4 channels for outboard preamps - second PB used

24 channels from the out of the mixer so I can patch in an outboard pre amp or direct box/pod type thing. 3rd pb used.
What else is usually connected or intercepted. I won't be able to get to the back of the mixer all that easily because it will be in a custom stand, and the inputs are going to come mainly from 24 channel snake in another room. I'm thinking maybe 24 channels to the direct inputs as well? It's a soundracs topaz 24 if that helps.

you may want to patch in a compressor or eq while tracking. Or patching effects on a mixdown.

I'm not sure I understand. THe effects are in the effects send/returns, not on the patchbay. Don't the inserts work during tracking? Or do you mean tracking thru one of the outboard preamps...Preamp > Compressor > ? where next...the inputs of the recorders? That's how I had the out of the mixer- in of the recorders set up on the 3rd patch bay. Is that what you mean? It's hard to predect all the possiblities, but I want to crawl behind as little as possible.

Sounds like you've got inserts covered, but I'd patch the Aux sends and returns also (I don't see them mentioned)... I recommend a normalized bay between the desk and snake... you won't believe that crap you will patch there once you can... (no more cables through the open control room door... because it's easier , and you'll try more things)
