Protools sample rate/adat hardware
Hi,
Question... i noticed that i am having real sync problems with reason and protools when i change my hardware setting in protools over to optical. I have my triton hooked up via adat into my digi002. So the only way to not get a noisy sound when i play the triton is to change it over to optical. I also noticed for the first time... i've had this thing for almost 2 years.. that the triton will only do 48k to 96k sample rates. Well geez whiz... now my tascam cd-rw 2000 is saying error not 44.1k, when i try to master down to it. Ok so i created a new song session and changed my sample rate in protools to 48k then things started syncing up right, but still get some noise if i don't change the hardware setting to optical... clock syncing... I am wondering now if i turn off the digital direct on my tascam burner what sort of sound quality i will be getting. It is suppose to have built in AD/DA conversion.. but this is a new one on me. Anyone else using lightpipe??? that's having sample rate issues? Demi |

It's crazy to answer my own questions, but i figure that this information might help someone else who is having the same problem. I had to grab at the manual to fix this problem. My tascam cd-rw2000 has a feature called digital direct.. it allows you to turn on/off the input sample rate frequency so that digital devices with sample frequencies more than the 44.1k standard will be usable. Ok so i turned it off and wow... i can actually hear that my mixes are a little on the loud side. I was able to lower the input volume and record my mix just as it sounds direct out of protools on to a cd. Sounds 100% better than a bounce to disk.
I love Tascam... Demi |
