Not exactly a recording topic, but it's a fun tool...

Anyone here using a vocoder? I was thinking about maybe getting me one of those paia vocoders (about 190$, incl shipping, for a fully analog 8-band vocoder...).
The one I use (ad interim) in my friends band is from a low-cost behringer effects processor, but I would like one of my own.
Any thoughts on one of these devices??

(By the way, I allready assembled the paia theremin for my friends. It's a fun toy, but it's extremely hard to get something musical out of it. Psychedelic as hell, not expensive, and easy to build however.)

Yeah, I'm using the Vocoder module in the Nord Modular. It works OK, I think, but I don't know how it compares with anything else. It sure is tons of fun, though...

I use the Vocoder effect on my Behringer DSP and also
use it on my Boss SP202 sampler.

The Boss sampler has a vocoder built in? How does it compare to the behringer? From my experience, the behringer is not that easy to work with, it needs quite a high mic input, right? (Could be the budget mic too... No other mic was available.)

Would you recomment one of these over the analog "real" thing? And has to be below 200$...
