whats everyones take on these. ive heard great things, and theyre so cheap! the 100 watt head is like 500 bucks. too good to be true? whats everyones take on these things?

100 watts is a lot.

yeah it is, but i prefer 100 watts to 50 watts. i have a 50 watt jcm 800 and altho that is one LOUD fucker, id rather have 100 watts. i also have a 100 watt jcm 900, so i know both sides of the spectrum.

The ValveKing amps are some great amps, especially if ya want some nice distortion at lower volumes, without having to use a pedal.

Got the Combo cuz my Super couldn't keep up on outside stages last summer. It's okay, lots of volume, usable tone, nice overdriven sound.

Careful though, they ain't real roadwrothy.
Every pot on the front is directly attached to the cicuit board, snap off a pot and oops, new board, that isn't cheap.
Jacks are fragile too, plastic. Other than that caveat, if you don't throw it in the back of a truck, nice sound, lotsa noise and that A/B mix thing on the back can give you a wide variety of tones

i tracked a metal band a little while ago...1 guitarist had a behringer ultrasuck 1/2 stack, the other a valve king 1/2 stack

nobody was pleased with the tone of their amps on record, and now both are saving for mesa/boogie triple rectifiers

Although Mesa is a nice amp, having two guitarists with same amps in a band can bring new problems. Especially two Mesas that eats alot of space.

This is interesting because I sat up and recorded some backline for Michael Angelo Batio using a Valveking and with a high end tube screamer he was loving the tones he was getting. Very thick and very heavy stuff. People tend to use too much distortion when they play then realize the recorded sound sucks.

*edited to add* Mind you, I'm no Peavey fanboy. I have 4 amps.. 2 Voxes, a Marshall, and a Divided By 13
