Anyone know of a great condition ADAT for sale?

I'm looking for one more, reasonably inexpensive. Even blackface, if it's in great working shape. No beaters. Clue me in if you see one that you think is a safe bet.

Good luck.

Out of three that I've tried to buy through eBay, I've been scammed on two of them; one was good, one was totally trashed and non-working, and one was a total scam (I didn't get anything from the seller). eBay gave me my money back on the trashed one, and so far I've been stiffed on the scammed one (they haven't given me a cent yet, even though they said I won my claim).

So, if I was you, I'd skip FleeBay completely (the biggest scamfest in the world) and see what you can find locally or through someone you know and trust.

Eek. I'm bidding on one right now. I hope the seller sounds fine. I never tried ebay really, but want another one. I'll take the chance I guess, but if I get scammed, I'll be pissed. If I post the link , can you tell me if it looks shady? I'm no ebay expert.

Well, it's pretty much a crapshoot in my experience. Look at the sellers history and how many negative feedback reports they've received. Pay by PayPal (they'll reimberse up to $200, less $25 processing fee, less your shipping cost) if you get scammed... as of about a month ago, eBay WILL NOT refund any part of your money if you pay by any other means (like cash, check, money order, credit card). Also, ask lots of questions about the condition of the ADAT, and whether the seller will refund your money if the unit doesn't work when it arrives.

IMHO, the eBay claim process is long, complicated and IS NOT user friendly... frankly, I think they designed it that way to discourage people that have been ripped off and are trying to get their money back.

If you still decide to bid on an ADAT from an eBay seller, just keep your fingers crossed. I wish you well.

I lost the bid, but found another for $200 BIN, so I bit, and hope it shows in 1 piece. It's a gamble, but if any of the ebay seller stuff means anything, then it's a regular guy. He also has some stuff listed as pick up only, as it's breakable or too big to ship. Doubt he's go to the trouble of selling and then stiffing a local person. Will update when it's recieved.

Yes, I got it yesterday, and it looks to be in very good cosmentic shape, but I haven't had time to turn it on yet. I plan on doing that today or tomorrow. It was well packed so it probably made the trip (from CA to NY) safely. I'll post when it's up and (hopefully) running.
Can I use some of my existing tapes to test it? They were formatted and recorded on 4.03 blackfaces, and this is an XT.
