EV/Blue Cardinal Cardioids for Overheads...

Hi Folks,

I'm debating on overhead mics and so far, I'm looking at expensive (AKG 414s or Neumann KM-184s) and more affordable (Oktava MK-012s or Marshall MXL 603s). However, I just ran across the EV Cardinal (supposedly a relabelled Blue mic):

The frequency range makes me think these could be great overhead mics, so has anyone tried these out on overheads? I can't find any reviews for this purpose anywhere online...

Thanks much in advance!

I haven't used it on overheads, but I dont think I would. I tested one on voice and it was ok only to about 12 inches. Any farther than that and it started to sound boxy and distant. The 414's wont disapoint you.

I'm heavily leaning on the C-414s...but there are several different models. I don't want to spring for C-12s. Do you have a recommendation for which 414 model?

Thanks in advance...
