Does anyone know if a Sony ecm 22p condenser mic will operate with phantom power?

I may have answered my own question....after a search of my basement, I have the owner's manual for this mic...it is a mic that I bought in 1973, when I started using low impedence equipment....the manual says that it will run on "phantom power" from a 4.5 - 50 volt source....now, I'm not exactly sure if this conforms to "modern" phantom power sources, or if there is such a thing as a "modern" source....I'd hate to just plug it in and risk damage to a really great sounding mic, but the batteries for it are getting harder and harder to find.....

Standard phantom power is 48v. You should have no problem.-Richie

has that been the standard since (at least) the early 70's?.....after a more careful reading of the manual, I see that the voltage range is 8.4 - 54

Hey mrmoe,
I've got a Sony ECM-56F from the same era....pretty decent mic. To answer your question, Neuman coined the term and even took a trademark on Phantom Power back in the late 60's.
