I have the standard PCI sound card with the 1/8" line and mic in. I'm just wondering if anyone out there could suggest anything out there thats worth stepping up to for PC based recording. thanks

Check the Computer Recording & Soundcards Forum.

Red face depends on type of music you are recording

yeah, if you are intending to record music for keyboards then you need a MIDI card, audio, then i would suggest getting a card with 1/4 inputs on it. I have the Delta 44 from M-Audio. It gets the job done well for my guitar recording but is sorta hard to configure. Thats about it.
