Check this- tell me what you think. When we record to a Tascam 4 track to get total seperation between tracks we use a splitter after the guitarist's pedal so one line goes to the amp and the other to 1 channel on the 4 track. Same for the bass except he goes out of his preamp jack on his amp to another track. Are we losing something by not miking the amps or do you fellas feel this acceptable- it sounds pretty good I think, but then again I am a drummer!

Hey,if it sounds good, don't change it! One of the real problems with home recording a band is leakage of tracks, and it sounds as though you guys have it taken care of.Good luck.

I had a four track Tascam (414mkii I think) and you had to pan the signal to one side of the bus to record. Is that the same as yours? It probably is. Anyway, It was great for one track at a time but if you ever did two, ie. anything stereo, there was a nasty very low level signal coming through on the opposite side of the bus. As the note faded a wee buz came through on the other side which would be recorded if you were recording the other side of the bus' signal aswell. If you did it all direct to the jacks on the front then you didn't get it. I moaned and shop bloke proved to me that it wasn't just mine. Check it out as it cheesed me off enough to get a minidisc 4trk instead.

I hope that isn't too moany, It's just meant as a little 'beware'
